Has anyone heard of the FolFox regiman... its a chemo treatment...?

for fighting colon cancer among other cancers.. Just found out today, that my dad will be starting that program ..next week.. Is it one of the most common ones? Lots of success?...

Sorry to hear about your father. Folfox has been studied extensively. This particular combination (5-fluorouracil + Folinic acid+oxaliplatin), has been shown to be best tolerated by patients, and yes it is very commonly used. There are also many new clinical trials enrolling patients that are studying this combination with other drugs. Go to www.clinicaltrials.gov and search for folfox. The landmark clinical trial inestigating the effectiveness of folfox is called the MOSAIC trial. This was an international study with more than 2000 patients involved, comparing the folfox regimen with other combos of its constituents. It showed that 77 percent of patients were disease free at 3 years post-treatment. You can look up more about it. Hope that helps and best of luck
