I get these weird chest pains.?!

Question:

I get these weird chest pains.?

I'm 36 , I smoke, I am about 25lbs over weight. ( I should just kill myself now) anyway a few months ago my doctor told me that I have high cholesteral and he put me on Lipitor. I took the meds for a month and didn't renew my rx. Before I started taking the meds and after I get these weird chest pains behind my right breast. I sometimes think it is cuz my arteries are clogging up. What do u think it could be? I also think it is caused when I eat greasy foods or fast food which I almost have wiped out of my diet.

Answers:

You should definitely tell your doctor about these symptoms. You should take your Lipitor until your doctor tells you not to take it anymore.

It is great that you have almost wiped out fast food and cut down on greasy foods, that is a great start. But as you know smoking and being overweight is not good either. I am not judging you by no means, I use to smoke and be overweight too and still am a little overweight. It is not an easy task to accomplish losing weight or quit smoking, but you have to for your health's sake.

Also, 36 is young, you should start immediate lifestyle changes. Seriously don't think nothing can happen to you because you are younger. At 37 I had open heart surgery bypass, and also had to have my mitral valve replaced with a mechanical valve (that was 4 years ago). Do everything possible to avoid this situation. Not trying to scare you, but young people go through these surgeries just as much as older people.

But again, you should talk with your physician immediately about these symptoms as no one can tell you what it could be without being examined by a physician. We can give guesses but that is about all. You should see your physician and discuss these issues with him/her.

Best wishes to you.
