Low Blood Pressure and Coffee Pills?!

Question:

Low Blood Pressure and Coffee Pills?

So I have very low blood pressure and so find myself craving sweets a lot and feeling dizzy if I stand for long periods of time. I am not a big fan of drinking coffee since it is too acidic for my stomach but was wondering if I should resort to taking coffee pills? Are these helpful or harmful and how many should I take if I do choose to take them to bring up my blood pressure? Thanks!!!!!!

Answers:

They are caffiene pills and not coffee pills. They will give you that notorius caffiene high. They will raise your blood pressure temporaily. However, this is not a safe way to regulate your bp. If your bp is too low, there is probably another cause other than a lack of caffiene.

Craving sweets is probably just a mental thing. Are you sure the cause of your dizziness is low bp?

How low is very low? I think the 'norm' is like 120/70 or 80. However, it is also very normal for younger people or people without other health or heart issues to run much lower. For example, mine runs around 90-100/60-70. For me that is normal and I feel fine.

Are you dehydrated? Try taking in more liquids like water to see if that helps.

If you are really concerned, however, you should see a doc about this. They can explain in high detail about bp and some causes and probably run some tests.
