Please--does Prevacid cause bad pain in upper abdomen in some people?

I've been on in 6 days (30 mg.) for gastritis. My doctor 'assures' me the pain isn't from the Prevacid but the gastritis. However, the 'side effects' show abdominal pain as first on the list and say to let your physician know. I've done so. He said give it more time. I'm in daily pain that varies in intensity in the midsection and thru to the back and burns alot! I don't have a gallbladder! By days end I'm worn out from the pain. I'm about to just quit the meds and try it alone but am afraid the gastritis, if left untreated may get worse. Leaving on plane for grandchild's wedding on next Thurs. Please--anyone know about this drug and side effects? thanks

Please call your pharmacist. Call several pharmacists, in fact. Today, doctors learn about drugs from pharmaceutical company representatives. Pharmacists are the professionals who know the chemistry and the body's metabolism of drugs.

I hope you are better soon. If you need to, see a different doctor. Gastritis can be very painful. You have real concerns and this doctor does not seem to have lessened your concern.
