Signs of an infection are - chest hurts when taking a deep breath, fever, coughing up green stuff!. An x-ray is the only way to tell if an antibiotic is needed or that there is an infection present!. Most colds cause congestion and you can take an over the counter decongestant for this but I would consult with my doctor on which kind to purchase if you are taking any asthma medication!. The nasty taste in your mouth is probably from your sinuses draining!. Doing a saline wash of your sinuses might help with this problem!. When your condition continues to get worse and worse rather than gradually better is when you need to see a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey ,i know the feeling ,I had a cough for 4 month and chest infection and have only just got over it !.What helped me was Sennegar and ammonia ,it is a healthy medicine but it tastes like crap, but it really works !.You can get it over the counter for about 6 bucks for a small bottle and 12 for a big bottle !.
Sigma Senegar Senega Ammonia 200ml
Robitussin EX Chesty Cough provides symptomatic relief from the family's congested chests and coughs due to the common cold!. Robitussin EX contains the expectorant Guaiphenesin, which increases the fl!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have a high fever, like over 100 degrees F!., you should see a doctor!. Other than that it's kind of hard to know when to go!. I've had some nasty colds with terrible congestion that wasn't chest infection!. Try buying cough syrup or cold medicine that is a decongestant, see if that helps you any!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your mucus is yellow or greenish you could have an infection and if you are running a fever!. If you have asthma i would go to the Dr before it gets worst!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
