When a patient is diagnosed with a disease that
seems like the only end of it is death!.!.!.they
can become very depressed and suicidal!.
They have watched all their dreams disappear
and their hopes of being here with others
they love start to look bleak!.

No liver patient should ever consume alcohol or
any drugs that are not prescribed by the doctor!.
The reason for this is because the alcohol and
the drugs go through the liver first, to be broken
down, before going to the rest of the body!.
Any damage already done inside the liver, can
increase, if this is not followed!. Most medications have to be adjusted for the patient
according to how much the liver cells are
damaged, or they can become toxic in the
liver very easily!.

It is very understandable that he feels this
way!. Many liver patients do!. It takes time
to come to terms with this disease and the
doctors are not always encouraging!.
In fact, they may be very blunt about everything!.
They see so much of this disease and they
know it will progress, that they are actually
hardened to it and that comes across to the
patient!.

I know of patients who had Hep C who had
transplants, even those who have overdosed
on medications or have drank alcohol!.
It used to be a patient had to be free of
alcohol for 6 months before they were allowed
a transplant!.!.!.this is no longer the case!.!.!.
they take them on a case by case basis now!.

Here is a link to tell about the transplant process!.
This is just one of the many Transplant Centers
in the USA!. If he is having a problem with
his doctor and he says no transplant!.!.!.he should
get a second opinion of a doctor who is
connected to the transplant center closest
to the area he lives in!.

his same problems!.!.!.this is a group for
those who have cirrhosis of the liver!.
Some are caregivers here, some are patients
with cirrhosis because of many different causes!.!.!.they are very caring people!.

I hope this helps you!. The group is free to
join and post!.!.!.There are links here and
people answer your many different questions!.

Best wishes to you!. The more you learn
about this disease and the more you talk
to others that have it!.!.!.then the more
you realize that you are not alone and that
others truly care and want to help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He needs to stop drinking immediately and start following his doctor's advice regarding treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My husband also suffered from hep c,he's gotten clean scans now for 5yrs!. since the interferon treatments but i doubt he can take them with cirrhosis !.that being said check with your local hospitals and health dept!.for a support group maybe being able to discuss his issues with others who are going through the same thing may help !.also giving him a way to find new ways to cope ,and sometimes just being of help to others gives new meaning to life(i'm sure his life experiences can be valuable to many!.) please do everything you can to stop him from drinking with the diseases he has it suicide god bless you bothWww@Answer-Health@Com

I cannot say much more than the above!.

I have two friends who have found something that helped them avoid the medications you mention!. Only thing, event though the medication is Medicare approved, it is not always paid for in every state!. This means many insurances will not pick it up!.

If he would take it, it is a powder you mix in a juice and drink a few times a day!. It boosts your glutathione, which it the thing inside us that will fight the disease!.

This powder is usually used for reducing chemo therapy symptoms, radiation symptoms, chronic wasting syndrome and bed sores!.

They even found it helps AID's patients in Canada!.

So this would be off label use!. But the people and docs who use it swear by it!.

You can learn more about glutathione at http://www!.GlutathioneDiseaseCure!.com

I have had a few Liver patients who have wanted to cash in their chips in my short career!. If he has something to live for, a job to be done and wants to look for another way, have him ask his doc about boosting his glutathione!.

Best wishes!.

First he needs to see a good hepatologist (liver specialist) to find out what his options will be!. I know the treatment is very hard for everyone, but he should listen to what a hepatologist would tell him to do!.

In order to save his life, he is going to need a transplant!. He needs to find a transplant center and get an evaluation to see if he could qualify to be listed for one!. It's a big commitment to go through this process, and he MUST listen and do everything they tell him to do, otherwise they will not even consider him for listing!.

His drinking has to stop now and forever!. The disease will only kill him faster if he drinks alcohol since he is poisoning his liver!. His liver is in very bad shape already without trying to process poison!. Once a transplant center finds out there is a drinking problem, they require at least 6 months of proven sobriety before they will even consider someone for a transplant!. And they will do random blood tests to make sure he is alcohol free if he is trying to get a transplant!.

He is young yet and there is hope for him as long as he is committed to getting well again!. But he has to want it enough to comply with everything and everyone in order to get the help he needs!. There are many success stories out there!. I had cirrhosis and a liver transplant!. I do not have hep C which really complicates things medically!. His first step is to go to a transplant center!. I wish him well and hope he can get the help he needs!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
