Can anti-histamines make you feel depressed?

Hi I have been taking loratadine for my hayfever and am feeling very low at present. Anyone else experience this?

YES!!

They are essentially depressants, usually...
I mean, why do they make you sleepy, drowsy, etc?

Because they are slowing down or inhibitting your body's response to something. Blocking a histamine reaction, etc.

I'd imagine that depression could be a potential side-effect.

Ask your doc, though... Maybe there's a better formula for you.
