Open Heart Surgery, how much $$?!

Question:

Open Heart Surgery, how much $$?

Doctor says at age 32 I should get my Bi-Cuspid Valve replaced with a mechanical one. The stenosis is sever at 0.6cm. I'm 32, married with a 4 year old and we were on our second week of house shopping.
This news kinda threw out the idea of buying a house and now we need to hold onto our savings to pay medical bills (if the second doctor agrees with valve replacement)

I know it's gonna vary based on insurance and doctor and such but I just need a ballpark figure. 5k 20k 100k you know. I think I have about 80% 20% coverage with about a 3k deductable.

How much $$?

Answers:

In the area in which I, live a mitral valve replacement would be in the neighborhood of 100k depending on the length of post op stay, mechanical vs. porcine (pig) valve and of course the physicians fees. With a 3000k deductable and 20% out of pocket you'd be looking at around 17000k ,ball park, in the deep south.
Thats's a tough break...I wish you the very best and hang in there. Your family probably wants you around for awhile.
