Is it normal to experience more acne when you begin to use a cleanser for the fi!

Question:

Is it normal to experience more acne when you begin to use a cleanser for the first time?

Okay, I've always had mild acne. What I've noticed is that if I only wash my face about 1-2x a week, my skin is fine. There are a few pimples, but it's fine. I began using a cleanser regularly (5x a week, as well as a facial mask once a week for deep cleansing), and I now have noticibly more acne. My theory is that the cleanser is ridding the top layer of skin and oils, etc, and therefore I'm experiencing more acne which will eventually go away. Is this right? Or is experiencing more acne in my situation a problem? This is only the 7th day of using a cleanser on a regular basis.

Oh and just incase it helps, I'm using:

Herbal Logix cleansing gel-
Contains Willowbark extract (source of Salicylic Acid) and Cucumber extract

French Green Clay-
"It literally "drinks" oils, toxic substances, and impurities from your skin. Its toning action stimulates the skin by bringing fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalizing the complexion, and tightening pores. French Green Clay is marvelous for helping to clear problem skin. Use it daily on trouble spots, or weekly as part of a complete facial treatment. Mined from bedrock quarries in France, it is completely natural, unscented and fragrance free."

Emu Oil-
Moisturizer

Answers:

Perfectly normal - your skin may even get a lot worse but it should adjust by day 10.
Perhaps something in the product that just doesn't sit right with your skin.

If after 10 days you do not have an ah ha moment with a product discontinue and realize it wasn't for you.

Everyone should wash their face twice a day -
excessive washing is bad - but normal to wash in the AM and repeat in the PM to get the days dirt off plus your skin goes through different things while you sleep so it's good to wash that off in the AM.

A good exfoliant twice a week on a clean face helps shake up the dead cells on your skin or a hot compress before you wash it.
