Tretinoin ( retin-a) question?!
Question:
Tretinoin ( retin-a) question?
I have just started to use Tretinoin for my acne problem. I would like to know the experience of people who used this med for acne. How long did it take to have a clear skin? Does it really help to reduce blackhead and whiteheads as well? Am I going to have a clear skin? Did it really reduce the wrinkles?
Please share your experience with me.

I used it for the first time as a teenager for acne and now I'm 35 and use it more for wrinkles.
When I was a teenager my skin was sensitive and I had problems dealing with irritation and I didn't do a good job of exfoliating the old skin that is shed every day from the Tretinoin.
Now that I'm older and I've had many years of experience with it I keep a moisturizing cream with 1% hydrocortizone for when I have irritation and I have it less often. My skin has gotten less sensitive as it has aged. I am also much better at exfoliating the old skin that the tretinoin produces when I wash my face in the mornings so that my make-up goes on smoothly.
It is ALWAYS impotant to use a moisturizer with a good sunblock under your make-up and it doesn't hurt if the make-up has it too.
I have 3 kids and had to discontinue using tretinoin each time I was pregnant. It may cause birth defects.
My Dr. also won't prescribe it to me unless I am using a reliable birth control.
I like it. My skin always looks so much better when i use it. If you go outside on a really, really hot (I live in Texas) sunny day you can feel your face get a little tingly ffrom the heat and sun. It just makes your skin more sensitive than usual. As long as you keep the sun block on and don't purposely get a lot of sun the tingling is temporary and isn't doing damage.
