Poor you, this is a horrible thing to have!. Try steaming (get a bowl of hot water, add some eucalyptus oil or olbas oil and with a towel over your head, lean over the bowl and breath slowly and deeply)!.
I know that antihistamines relax the reflexes and muscles that cause us to cough (a tip a doctor gave me once) BUT make sure that they won't interfere with the meds you're taking from the doctor first!. Normal painkillers should help with the pain in your ribs, again check you're not overdosing with your prescribed meds!.
When you go to bed, sleep propped up on lots of pillows rather than lying too flat!. Also hot drinks will help to sooth your throat!. Make sure you're getting enough fluids and vitamins etc even if you don't feel like eating, it'll help your body fight the infection, esp!. vitamin C!. Plus, of course, rest!
Hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
