Answers:
Cancer is indeed an ancient disease; the origin of the word cancer is credited to the Greek physician Hippocrates (460-370 BC)!.

The world's oldest documented case of cancer is from ancient Egypt, in 1500 BC!. The details were recorded on a papyrus, documenting 8 cases of tumours occurring on the breast!.

The oldest available specimen of a human cancer is found in the remains of skull of a female who lived during the Bronze Age (1900-1600 BC) The tumour in the woman's skull was suggestive of head and neck cancer

So modern day foods, chemicals etc aren't responsible!. No food or drink has been scientifically proven to cause cancer!.

It isn't that everything causes cancer; it's just that everytime a study is carried out, however small or insignificant, which suggests that maybe, possibly, in some people, there's a small possibility that something may possibly contribute to caner, but it may not - the media gets hold of it and distorts it!.

Suppose in a study of 20 people who had bowel cancer, it's found that 5 watched 15 or more hours of TV a week!. The study's conclusions would include the fact that 25% of bowel cancer patients studied watched 15+ hours of TV!. The science correspondent of a national paper - and they are journalists who rarely have any scientific or medical background or knowledge - gets hold of it and runs a sensational article entitled 'Too Much TV Can Cause Cancer!', explaining that 25% of bowel cancer patients studied watched excessive amounts of TV!. And before you know it, it's accepted wisdom - TV causes cancer!. Et voila! - an urban myth/legend is born!.

This happens several times a month - so people start to think that everything causes cancer!.

In fact nobody knows what causes most cancers!. Smoking has been linked to lung and some other cancers, excessive sun exposure to skin cancers and the sexually-transmitted virus HPV to cervical cancer!. Up to 10% of cancer cases are hereditary!.

Other than that we're pretty much in the dark as to what causes cancer!.

If it appears that cancer is more widespread these days it's because cancer is mainly a disease of ageing - most people diagnosed are over 60 - and, thanks to improved health care, more people are living well into old age!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They did, but they didn't know they had cancer!. Since people didn't know it existed no one knew they had it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People in the dark ages didn't live long enough to get cancer!. They died of other things first!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Diet is a huge factor!. They didn't eat the PROCESSED crap we eat now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
