Does anyone have any eperience with Prilosec OTC?
Does it work well? Are there any side effects that you've experienced? Is it okay to take another acid reducer (tums) while you're waiting for it to kick in? Any info would be appriciated.

Prilosec is good for now and then heartburn but not for the actual healing of GERD. If you have reflux then it is likely you do have GERD and by far and away Nexium is the drug of choice. It is much much better than Prilosec. If you have everyday problems see a Dr and ask about Nexium. Let's clarify something here so the facts are correct. Prilosec is for the treatment of patients with symptomatic GERD and no esophageal lesions is 20 mg daily for up to 4 weeks. Where as Nexium is indicated for the short-term treatment (4 to 8 weeks) in the healing and resolution of diagnostically confirmed erosive esophagitis. Key words are symptomatic (treating the symptoms only) and healing (curing the problem).
