Now - check with friend or check out a support group for some recommendations - or check with any nursing friends. A doctor who is a friend of mine - but not my treating doctor - recommended a surgeon who was a perfect personality match for me and is still the one doctor I trust the most. My sister considered her oncologist to be the main contact on her cancer team. It is important to to mesh with someone.. the surgeon is only part of it.
