My daughter is 4 1/2 months and has eyes boogies...?!

Question:

My daughter is 4 1/2 months and has eyes boogies...?

My daughter has had the worst eye boogers since she was born. She will sometimes wake up and an eye will be swollen. Sometimes they will be fine. And no matter how many times I clean out her eyes. And no matter how many eye ointments and eye drops I use. It wont go away.

My pediatrician had supplied me with like all differnt kinds of ointments, and eye drops. Nothing seems to work. So about 2 weeks ago he reffered me to an Opthamalogist (Sp?). So I went and he wanted to "Probe" her eyes. I was terrrified. But I ended up telling him to do it. It was the worst experience I've ever had. The Bleeding....OMG!

Well her one eye still keeps swelling up and still has the same problems as before. I have another appointment in a few weeks to go back. I'm just worried he's gonna have to do it again. I told my husband he will have to go to this appoinment with me!

Has anyone everhad this done? And what did you do?

Sorry I just worry to much!

Answers:

My daughter had similar symptoms at a very young age also. You may want to check into if there is a specialist that specializes with children only. My daughters problem was blocked tear ducts, which required surgery to install tubes that were eventually removed. I never recall her ever needing to go through a test that caused bleeding. I would reconsider your options or tell the specialist "no more tests like that"! Yes, that would be heartbreaking for a parent and child to have to experience.
