What causes a type 1 diabetic to have fits?!

Question: What causes a type 1 diabetic to have fits!?
Answers:
Very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can cause fits!.

Usually that only happens if you've taken too much insulin or skipped a meal!. Although a lot of exercise or drinking too much alcohol can also cause blood sugar levels to fall quickly!.

It's actually quite unusual for a diabetic to have fits!. (I'm assuming here that you are talking about fits where involuntary spasms, especially those affecting the full body, occur !.!.!. where there's loss of consciousness, and where a person MAY lose bladder and bowel control!.)

This happens when blood sugar levels have dropped extremely low!. Unfortunately, with continued low blood sugar levels, the body does tend to lose the ability to recognise when blood sugars are falling!. This is called hypoglycaemia [hypoglycemia, if you're American] awareness!.

Sometimes your doctor may purposely get you to run your blood sugars a little higher than normal in order for some of that awareness to return!. This is something that should only be done under a doctor's supervision as raised blood sugar levels have their own dangers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm assuming by "fits" you mean seizures!. Seizures can be caused by severely low blood sugar, which is usually caused when too much insulin is taken, if a diabetic exercises without compensating with food, or if a meal is skipped or delayed after insulin has been taken!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
