What type of infections can happen with nose piercings?!

Question:

What type of infections can happen with nose piercings?

I know the bump that usually occurs, and that very serious infection may lead to brain damge, but i was wondering if you knew anything else about infection or other major "cons". And if anybody knew what kind of metal to get it pierced with, I heard that cheap studs also cause infection. Help please anybody? Thanks

Answers:

If not professionally pierced, you could get tetanus from unsterile metal. You could also get staph infections etc. These are the worst case scenarios. Generally after getting a piercing, things get a little infected anyway (i.e. get inflammed, swollen, hurt a little). Don't worry about it, try and ignore it, take a tylenol. Unless you get pus or bleeding, in which case take out the nose piercing and go to the doctor.
