Pains in leg when walking?!

Question:

Pains in leg when walking?

My Dad has had DVT a few times in the past. About 6 weeks ago he started to get pains in his lower leg when he walked for more than a few yards, and suspected that it was DVT again (he is not on wharfin at the moment). He went to the doctor, and they sent him to the hospital. In the past he had been diagnosed when they checked his leg in 2 different places to check that the blood flow was the same in both places. This time the lady he saw said that she didn't think it was a clot, but that she would give him a quick scan to make sure. She scanned his leg very quickly, said he was fine and sent him home. Now the "pain" has moved and is now under his foot so that it is painfull to put his foot down. What could be wrong with him? Could this be DVT? Or is it something less dangerous. He loves to walk so this is making his life miserable. Please help!

Huggz - Surely blood must flow towards the foot too.

Answers:

Its difficult to say what it is...but its obvious that something is not right. He should go back to his doctor.
An informed guess, it does not sound like a blood clot because the pain has moved down....blood clots tend to move up the legs (with blood flow, not against it).
