Losing weight with oral allergy symdrome?!

Question:

Losing weight with oral allergy symdrome?

Anyone else have a problem? I've gained a lot of weight and I am struggling to eat healthy because of it!

If you don't know what oral allergy syndrome is...

It is an allergy to certain RAW fruits, vegetables, seeds, spices and nuts causing allergic reactions in the mouth and throat. My mouth and tongue become swollen, itchy. It happens in people with certain tree pollen allergies, like birch tree. I am able to eat the fruit or veggie if it is cooked, canned, or dried.

I know you are going to tell me don't eat it, or eat the canned kind only. But, it is not as easy as that! The canned kind has a lot more calories, which makes it more difficult to lose weight! Cooking it takes a lot of time.. it has to be cooked very well.. plus, you lose a lot of good vitamins and minerals that way.. And it doesn't taste as good either!

I'm so frustrated...!

Answers:

I used to have oral allergy syndrome too. I couldn't even get the juice of raw vegetables or fruits on my skin; it would make me break out. Get canned fruits that are canned in juice or light syrup. When you boil vegetables, you can drink the water if you wish to get the vitamins. If you cook vegetables in the microwave, you don't lose as many vitamins since they are not submerged in water. You can also microwave bananas so you can eat them.
I don't have oral allergy syndrome anymore because I had allergy desensitation shots. After five years of being on the shots, my oral allergy syndrome went away! Now I can eat salad, watermelon, oranges, and other things that I could not eat before.
