What type of bug could this be thats biting me at night?!

Question:

What type of bug could this be thats biting me at night?

I keep having these little itchy bites on my arms and legs when I get up in the morning. Sometimes they will still be swollen. I do have a cat , but he has a flea collar and has been to the vet so there is no way it is fleas. Also I dont think they are mosquitos because I havent seen any around. The bit looks like a flea bite, because it is small. I have seen gnats in my house, do they bite? Anyhow it never happens when I am awake, but I had 5 small itchy bites on the side of my leg when I woke up this morning and they all seemed new. Does anyone know what this bug may be?

Answers:

Almost certainly not spiders. It could be fleas but these are visible to the naked eye. It could also be bed bugs but these tend to leave tell tale signs, such as small stains or blood smears on the sheets and mattress.

It is very possible you are being bitten by some type of mite such as a bird or rodent mite. Many of these are so small you cannot see them without magnification. Check out this website for more info: http://williamson-tx.tamu.edu/ipm/diagno...
