Cause of mastitis in non breast feeding post surgery woman?!

Question:

Cause of mastitis in non breast feeding post surgery woman?

I have mastitis (infection of breast), and am not breast feeding. The doctor said is it probably staph infection and is treating me with antibiotics, and it is responding well. However, i was also in hospital last month to have gall bladder removed. Could the mastitis i have now be related to the surgery i had last month? Can Staph spread to the breast from another part of the body?

Answers:

Not sure...I had double mastitis when breast feeding my twins and ended up in the hospital for 5 days on antibiotic IV with a fever of 105. It is easy to pick up a staph in a Hospital. Feel better real soon!!!!!!!
