Do non-diabetics ever get Ketones?!

Question: Do non-diabetics ever get Ketones!?
Like could a non-diabetic have ketones in their urine!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes!. Ketones are simply a side effect of the body switching to fat instead of glucose as its primary energy source!. The ketones are one of the waste products formed as fat metabolizes!. This happens unintentionally in diabetics, when the lack of insulin makes it impossible to for the body to get enough energy from glucose to meet its needs!. But non-diabetics can also switch to a primarily fat burning metabolism, for example after fasting for a few days!. As the glucose stored in the liver is used up, more and more energy will come from fat cells, thus producing the ketone byproducts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is often the sign of RHABDOMYLOSIS (sp!?), a potentially fatal problem!.

This can be caused by poor diet or accident, especially accidents which crush (rather than cut) the muscles!.

Ketones can also be caused by high-protein diets!. Still, this is a warning that thing are NOT going right!.

If the urine and/or breath smell sweet, see a doctor!. Ketones, of any cause, are a danger sign!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
