Help i think i have a Virus. Im sick!!?

I've been having a headache
I have diarrhea
I feel like vomiting

Almost my whole family got it today and i feel terrible.
please help me identify my problem and give me some tips to cure it or make me feel better...thanks.

It sounds like one of the many sorts of what is commonly termed "food poisoning". This could have indeed been caused by a virus (viral gastroenteritis - with these sorts of viruses, you generally start feeling the symptoms 1 - 2 days after getting infected with it, and it could last from 1 - 10 days.) It could also be caused by bacteria - E. coli, Staphs, etc - but it doesn't quite sound like this.

If your entire family came down with this all at once, then it's likely that you all got infected at the same time, from the same source. The important thing here is to try and stay hydrated (I know that's hard when you feel nauseous, but it's important). Try drinking sprite or 7-Up. There are also some otc anti-nausea products that may work for you (I used to work at a pharmacy, and our pharmacist was forever harping on the benefits of cola syrup helping with nausea). The diarrhea will actually help flush your system of the nasty microbe that is causing this illness, but if it's just too much for you to bear with, try keeping down some kaopectate, or pepto bismol.

If you, or your family members, start getting a high fever, call your doctor. If you start experiencing any very severe symptoms, don't hesitate to make a trip to your local hospital and get it checked out.
