If I have a high TSH count, will I get thyroid cancer?!

Question:

If I have a high TSH count, will I get thyroid cancer?

Answers:

All a high TSH count means is that your thyroid gland isn't producing enough thyroid hormone. It does not indicate thyroid cancer. What would indicate a followup to look for thyroid cancer is if you have large nodules on your thyroid gland that the doctor could feel by examination. Then even then, it may not be thyroid cancer. THey would have to do an ultrasound an biopsy to find that out.

Many people who have nodules, have had them shrink once they got on thyroid medication.
