Does vitamin C really protect against colds?!

Question: Does vitamin C really protect against colds!?
Answers:
You should have vitamin C in you diet, but excessive amounts of it don't do much for colds!. There was a study that showed only marines training in the Arctic and marathon runners who showed any more resistance to colds from taking more than 1000 mg of vitamin C per day!. Forget where I heard that so don't quote me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes and no!. vitamin c isnt like a medication that blocks the common cold, and defends your body, and then defeats the cold!. what vitamin c does is help your immune system!. when you get sick, your immune system is weakened by the cold, virus, cough, or whatever it is you have!. when you intake lots of vitamin c, it restores your immune system and in return your immune system defends your body because its stronger and healthier!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There really isn't any evidence that it does!. It might help if people are drinking juice because fluids can help a cold!. But it doesn't prevent colds!. In fact, I used to know lots of people who took vitamin c to protect against colds and they were always sick!. I ate a regular diet and was healthier!.

Anecdotal, but that's all there is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The answer is no!. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, which means it goes in and goes right out, its good for you to have in ur system but to much it wont be absorbed and therefore does nothing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Helps to Boost the immune system, so protect, no, lessen the chance that you catch it, yes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
