Question:

How could I cure a faint after a blood analysis? (Shot)?

Hello to everybody, I'm just curious how could i control my nerves when I need blood taken out of me. But this has always happen to me but neither me, my parents, or my pediatric know why, and there for I need some good reasons and advices thank you.

Answers:

1. Tell your phlebotomist, "I'm a fainter. I get scared. Please help me through this." He/she must know this.
2. You may want to lie down during the procedure.
3. Ask the phlebotomist to talk to you during the procedure. Or talk to him/her. "What kind of education do you have to have to do this for a living?" "I had a really bad day at school; this teacher..." "I'm thinking about getting my tongue pierced." Whateaver.
4. Just before the stick, breathe in deeply and slowly. During the stick, breathe out slowly.
5. Why do you faint? Some people faint from blood draws because the sight of blood, or even the idea of a blood draw, causes a sudden and intense stimulation of the vagus nerve, leading to dilation of the carotid arteries and subsequent reduction in cerebral blood pressure. In other words, your body says, "Woah, I'm bleeding!" and drops your blood pressure so you won't bleed to death.

I hope this helps you.
