Tonsillolith - The unofficial name is "tonsil stones". I get them too.
Your tonsils have lots of ridges and valleys, some of us have more or deeper ones than normal. Bacterial gets stuck in these crevasses and as time goes on, calcium builds up around it (think of an oyster creating pearls). You'll cough them up now and again when the loosen.
To help prevent them, try gargling mouth wash or salt water every day or spraying the back of your mouth with a waterpik type device. This can loosen them. Some people get them so bad, they have their tonsils removed.
