Any connection with fibromyalgia and yeast consumption?!

Question: Any connection with fibromyalgia and yeast consumption!?
Answers:
Hi - the theory that an overgrowth of the yeast-like fungus Candida Albicans can cause Fibromyalgia (and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) was popularized by William Crook, MD in his 1986 book, "The Yeast Connection"!. Though clinical studies are lacking, Dr!. Crook, many naturopathic practitioners and nutritionists proposed that systemic candidiasis can cause conditions as varied as fatigue, PMS, sexual dysfunction, asthma, psoriasis, digestive and urinary problems, multiple sclerosis, muscle pain and mood disorders!.

Candida Albicans is a yeast-like fungus which lives in all humans!. It lives on the moist dark mucous membranes which line the mouth, vagina and intestinal tract!. Ordinarily it exists only in small colonies, prevented from growing too rapidly by the human host's immune system, and by competition from other microorganisms in and on the body's mucous membranes!. However when something happens to disrupt this balance an overgrowth of Candida can occur, causing symptoms like vaginal yeast infections and thrush, and oral yeast infection of the mouth and tongue!.

Believers in the Candida theory suggest that an overgrowth of Candida Albicans in the digestive tract may cause "intestinal permeability" (also known as "leaky gut"), a condition where increased permeability of the intestinal tract allows food protein fragments to pass between intestinal cells into the circulatory system, compromising the immune system!.

Conventional western medicine accepts the existence of a chronic Candida infection that affects the whole body and which is sometimes called "chronic disseminated candidiasis"!. However it is believed to be quite uncommon, and is not shown to have the wide-ranging health effects purported by alternative medicine practitioners!.
The most common causes for a candida overgrowth are antibiotic therapy, the use of immuno-suppressant medications like corticosteroids, and a high carbohydrate diet!.

Should the presence of excessive amounts of Candida be found (through a stool test), an anti-Candida diet may be recommended!. A Candida reduction diet typically involves avoiding dairy products (except yogurt), red and processed meats, yeast-based food such as breads and pastries, alcoholic beverages, dried fruits, mushrooms, and products containing sugar and vinegar!. If the diet alone is not able to control the Candida, the use of an anti-fungal medication like Diflucan (Fluconazole) or Nizoral (Ketoconazole) may be necessary!.

I've had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since 1981 and when Dr!. Crook's book came out my naturopath doctor recommended an anti-candida diet!. I did it for about a year and lost over 40 pounds!.!.!.not a good thing as I'm 6'3" and ended up weighing only 140 pounds!. The diet did nothing positive for me and I'm really skeptical of the theory that Candida is involved in more than a tiny, tiny minority of individuals with CFS/FMS!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

fibromyalgia has been scientifically connected to most everything unfortunately for us who suffer!. I think that because it affects mostly women we have really gotten poor help!. As a retired nurse I have witnessed doctors and nurses make fun of Fibro patients!. Also the illness is way overdiagnosed!. They would not laugh if they lived 24 hours with it!. Some doctors diagnose it for anyone with aches and pains they can't explain away!. Hopefully they'll get it right someday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The fluid in your body start to build up in your cell walls!. The cells are normally permeable, but the process malfunctions!. If you take 6,000mg of PURE MSM, it will restore this balance and help your fibro!. This much MSM is pretty close to taking a safe form of codeine!. There are tons of articles on MSM and fibro!. Yeast can be an issue because too much in you GI tract can cause malabsorption issues, which could have led to the fibro!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
