I have had herpes for over 25 years and don't believe in taking suppressive medications!. I think too many people take them and don't let their body fight the virus on it's own!. Some people only have one outbreak and never have another!.!.!.it would be a waste taking all that medication for nothing!.
I've heard of varying side effects the most common being headaches from taking antivirals!. No one can say for sure if there are any long term effects-I've only heard to watch you liver enzymes!. If you have severe outbreaks taking antivirals for a year or two might be helpful!. Episodically, might be another option to taking medication-only when you feel an outbreak coming on!.
Whether you choose to take the medications is your choice!.!.!.some studies (done by valtrex) shows that medications reduces the asymptomatic shedding!. Other studies show asymptomatic shedding lessens with time!. I have never passed this on (husband tested) in all the years I had this!.

Yes there are some side affects to antiviral medication (like nausea,diarrhea, vomiting) but chances are you may only experience one or two of them and they may subside over time, depending on how your body reacts to it!. Talk to your doctor and they should find some thing that would cause you less side affects!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
some meds lessen the chance of outbreaks and some may decrease the severity or duration of outbreaks!. some people have always had herpes and never knew!. pimples are a type of herpes and if you've ever had a cold sore without getting punched in the mouth that's herpes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
PIMPLES ARE NOT A TYPE OF HERPES, you need to take medicine so you don't look like the pictures you can find on google of a full blown outbreak!. If you want to be miserable and have horrible sores, don't take medicine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is a smart choice to stop from spreading herpes to other sex partners and makes outbreaks for the person who has herpes less!. And taking the medication/s does not prevent genital warts!. Those are two entirely two different STDs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
