My dad is a stroke victim, tips for helping improve his speech?!

Question:

My dad is a stroke victim, tips for helping improve his speech?

My dad just recently had a stroke. He's had 2 previously in the past 2 1/2 years. They each had only effected his right arm. His speach had been slightly slurred but now its really hard for him to pronunciate. This is the first time its ever just effected his speach and not him arms and such. Speech therapy is obivious. Is there anything i can do at home to kind of help him with his speech.

P.S
He was right handed and the strokes affected that arm. So he can right wat he needs to say. This will be difficult. Im only 15. Tips on how i can help?? advice? comments

Answers:

when I read this question, my heart broke because my brother had a stroke about 2 years ago. He has aphasia.

We were told the best thing to do is have regular conversations with him that will get him to talk. You can talk about anything! My brother enjoys that better than reading or practicing with cards, etc. He loves conversing, and I would venture to guess your dear father loves conversing as well. Go ahead, get talking. About anything!. Look at the paper together and discuss current events. Bless your heart for asking this question. I pray your father will not give up and continue to work on his speech.
