Is it hemorrhoids or something else?

I'm sixteen and a little bit worried. I've had this problem for about a year or close to it. It wasn't as bad at first, but now it seems to be getting worse in appearance.

I've experienced pain while using the bathroom, and sometimes there was bleeding. It didn't last long, but then every now and then there will be more bleeding. I guess I sometimes strain to use the bathroom, and I sit a lot during the day.

At first there was a swollen looking purple colored lump around my anus, but it wasn't too big so I ignored it. It's gotten a little bigger since then and there is another one on the opposite side.

It doesn't hurt very bad, but sometimes it itches and it doesn't look pretty at all. I want to see a doctor about it, but I really am a bit embaressed about telling my mom about it. It's probably nothing, but it's highly embaressing.

It definately sounds like a hemmorhoid. Just tell your mom! Your mother wiped your little tush when you were a baby, cleaned up your vomit and did many other 'disgusting' tasks that moms are required to do! You should really have it treated, especially since it seems like it's bothering you a lot. And even if you do find it embaressing, your mom isn't going to look at you and be like "ew, my kid has hemmorhoids". Most parents have their child's best interest at heart, and I'm sure she doesn't want to see you suffer.
And don't be embaressed at the doctor either. They see all kinds of 'gross' things on a daily basis, and if they didn't want to look at that sort of thing than they wouldn't have become a doctor.
