Does anyone know what to do for demodectic mange?!

Question:

Does anyone know what to do for demodectic mange?

My puppy has a spot between her eyes and one on her cheek that I think may be this. I thought it was a fungus and trated it with apple cider vinegar. I have also tried calendula tincture in water. I will have the vet chek it out tomorrow.

Answers:

This mange is caused by a mite that live inside the hair follicles, NOT a fungus. You need an ointment from the vet (Goodwinol ointment) or it is sometimes treated with ivermectin.
Here is a link that has all the info you need to know:

it can at times clear up by itself, but that is not the usual course of things.. you want to nip this before it becomes generalized because then you can have major medical bills and your dog can have issues for life. You will need antibiotic cream as a follow up with the Goodwinol ointment.

Also small spots like that could be ringworm. You need to go to the vet and make sure that it is only demodectic mange and not anything contagious to you !
