Question: How and why do polyps bleed!? (for example in colon cancer)!?
Answers:
BioMed Student,
I am surprised that you ask this question if you are indeed a biomed student!. The answers that you seek are clearly defined in the texts on the subject!. I would recommend "Basic and Clinical Perspectives of Colorectal Polyps and Cancer: Proceedings of a Meeting Held in Boston, Massachusetts, November 20-21, 1986" This is often included in medical libraries!.
However, to ease you from your research, I provide the following information - A colon polyp is a fleshy, vascular growth on the inside, or lining, of the colon!. Colon polyps are extremely common!. Their incidence increases as individuals get older!. Half of all people over the age of 60 harbour at least one polyp!. Polyps give rise to colon cancer, the second leading cause of death from cancer!. Twisting and bending of polyps, leading to fracture of fronds, and vascular obstruction, with passive congestion and stromal hemorrhage, appear to be the main sources of bleeding in polyps!.

ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED, IN ANY FORUM AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS ONE!. - MANY ANSWERS ARE FLAWED!.

The information provided here should not be used during any medical emergency or for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition!. A licensed physician should be consulted for diagnosis and treatment of any and all medical conditions!.

Hope this helps
