I have a bump, what can it be? There is no burning, itching, soreness....?!

Question:

I have a bump, what can it be? There is no burning, itching, soreness....?

So I recently just discovered a bump on my outer labia. Now there is no sign of any STD. I searched the web like an spy looking for something like this. So I have some relief in that I didn't really find anything. There is no itching, no soreness, no burning, nothing, just a little bump. Almost looks like a pimple. Slightly red, but I think that's just because I've been freaking out and looking at it. I was thinking it might be an ingrown hair? It became apparent last week. Got a little bigger as if it were coming to a head. Like a pimple. Anyone have any ideas? I could just go to the doctor, but just thought I would ask.

Also to add more detail, I haven't really had unprotected sex in three years. Except with my steady boyfriend. Neither has he. We're both honest adults and can vouch for this.

Answers:

I can answer pretty positively that this is molluscum .
Molluscum contagiosum (MC) is a viral infection of the skin or occasionally of the mucous membranes.
There are 4 types of MCV, MCV-1 to -4, with MCV-1 being the most prevalent and MCV-2 seen usually in adults and often sexually transmitted. The incidence of MC infections in young children is around 17% and peaks between 2-12 years of age. MC affects any area of the skin but is most common on the body, arms, and legs. It is spread through direct contact, saliva, or shared articles of clothing (including towels). They just get burned off like warts and usually never come back.
