Answers:
From your description you had a gall stone which obstructed your bile duct!. This resulted in abnormal functioning of the liver as evidenced by an increase in bilirubin (the cause of jaundice)!. The liver has enormous glucose stores!. An irritated or inflamed liver may release tremendous quantities of glucose into the blood stream resulting in hyperglycemia (elevated blood glucose)!. This circumstance however would not imply that you are likely to be a diabetic!. Nonetheless it is quite appropriate - once your liver has recovered - to perform a simple fasting capillary (finger stick) glucose!. A reading of 100 mg/dL (5!.6 mmol/L for those not in the US) or less would prove that the hyperglycemia was the result of temporary injury to the liver rather than diabetes!. It's a problem most diabetics can explain for you!. Since I am a diabetic here goes!.

When you don't eat for an extended period your liver does some magic and converts stored energy to glucose!. That's why diabetics seem to be eating all the time!. They are trying to maintain a glucose level around 100!. If we let it drop too far the liver will flood the system and there is no or very little insulin to unlock the cells for them to burn the glucose!.

Don't worry too much about the situation until you get some results from tests specifically designed to diagnose the problem!. I wouldn't trust any glucose levels measured after not eating for as long as you say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because your body was accessing fats in your body!. the main source of energy for a person is glucose, which when goes unused, is turned to glucagon and stored as fat!. when you werent eating, your body accessed that glucose to create ATP (adensoine triphosphate) which is the "currency" of energy that is usable in your body!.

therefore you had increased glucose in your blood!.

hope that helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

your glucose levels are high because your kidneys are being overworked and causing increased levels of glycogen to keep your body maintaining the energy levels that you need to function on a daily basis!.!.!. basically your kidneys are aiding you body eating itself to stay alive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Gall stones excrete through the pancreas - can even cause Pancreatitis!. Also, infections and illness can dramatically affect blood sugars, regardless of food!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
