I just suddenly got a panic attack?!?!


Question: I just suddenly got a panic attack!?!!?
My stepmom is pregnant for the 2nd time(not counting the miscarriages I didn't know about until recently *FUMES*)!. the news was spring on me a few weeks ago, maybe two!. Since then, I haven't been concentrating in class, my grades are dropping form straight A's I worked so hard to maintain, and so on!. I've told two of my friends and I keep getting these!. I wake up thinking about it, break into a cold sweat and don't sleep until 5:00 am!. I don't know what to do!. I live what I call my 'life of lies' so I can't tell anyone but my friends!. My mom will work to do bad things(anything, really) to my other family(my dad, stepmom, and baby sister) The pressure is building and I swore I'd keep this a secret to my father when he told me!. Not even my stepmom knows I know!. What do I do!?! I need to get this off my chest!. And since I'm a minor, I can't see my dad for 3 weeks! Vacation times are totally messed up! Urgh! Honey, you have to figure out your priorities!. You come first in your life, right now!. It is important that you stop taking this situation onto your shoulders!. You are a minor!. You have no say in anything!. About the only thing you can do is call 911 if something bad goes down in your life, otherwise, it is out of your hands!.

So, turn your attention to getting your mind back under your own control!. You are reacting!. You need to turn from being a reactor into an initiator!. Just follow my reasoning, okay!?

When you change your thoughts, your inner and outer world changes!.

Below is a list of thoughts!. Pick any 4 or 5 each day and repeat them out loud to yourself!. During the day run these thoughts through your mind constantly!. Do it last thing at night as you are drifting off to sleep!.

I am confident
I am centred and poised within
I am happy being me
I am content
I am a good person
I feel good about myself
I feel relaxed, at peace with myself!.
I like myself
God assigned a guardian angel to me
I can call on my guardian angel for help in emergencies
I am never alone, my angel is with me
God loves me
Jesus is my friend

I am mentally sharp
I remember easily
I retrieve memories easily
I am a self starter
I am assertive
I use personal initiative
I get good grades in school
I have a good memory
I like the word NO
NO is my favourite word
NO works for me
simplify, simplify, simplify is my mantra

I comprehend rapidly
My mind is sharp
I study easily and I remember

Create your own thoughts, keep them short, in the present tense and eliminate the word "NOT"

Speak and think the thoughts with conviction and emotion!.
Make them you!.

The only thing you have control over is your attitudes!. Thoughts and attitudes affect all areas of your life!. They put you at the top of the ladder or the bottom!. It's up to you!.

When you are feeling tense, focus your attention on your breathing!. Feel the air passing in and out through your nostrils!. Do not meddle with your breathing, just observe it!. Breath rhythmically, slowly and deeply!. Let your muscles go lax in your chest and diaphragm!. when you exhale!.

If you are having trouble sleeping, start at the top of your body and tense, hold, and relax your muscles then observe the relaxed feeling in contrast to the tensed feeling!. Do this with your facial muscles and neck, your arms and hands, your thighs, your ankles and feet!. Tense them as hard as you can and hold it, then totally let go, relaxing the muscles!.

In order to get through life unscathed, you need to remove those people from your thoughts who are not worthy of wasting your time!. There will always be someone you need to remove from the forefront of your mind!. Do this: Visualize a large "X" and mentally superimpose it over the face of the person you are dismissing from your mind!. Use the X technique on anyone you need to dismiss from your thoughts!.
Visualize the person and use the X as you are drifting off to sleep!.

Get ear plugs to cut that sensory input when you are studying, if necessary!. Get good grades!. Be deliberate about improving yourself!. You are the only one inside your skin, walking in your shoes!. It is ultimately your responsibility!.

You have my sympathies!. Sounds like you already have a tough enough time striving for A grades let alone having this hanging over you ! I don't understand why you can't see your dad, perhaps you need to talk this over with him, since he is the one who dumped this one on you in confidence!. Try to relax, keep talking with your friends!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all you need to understand that you can only control yourself, not others!. You have your whole life ahead of you!. Just don't make the same mistakes your parents are making!. If you are really having panic attacks with fast heart beat and sweats keep a brown lunch bag by your bed at night and breathe in and out of it until your heart calms down!.

Your good grades are only going to affect your future and no one elses!. You are in charge of you and you only!. You are not the mediator between your mom and dad!. Don't get caught up in between the two!. It is not your job or your responsibility!. Take care!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well!.!.!.I get panic attacks very often, I went to the doctor one time when I really felt like I was going to die on the bus!. He checked me in a matter of secods because I was passing out, he tried to calm me down and gave me some pills!. I think you should go to the doctor too because even though i had these attacks very often i didn't want tog o to the doctor until I really was about to faint!. i'm better now, the pills help a lot, but i've been trying to not depend on them so much and try to calm down naturally, and it's so very hard but i keep trying!. About your stepmom!.!.!.!.well, you should not worry a lot about it, she is an adult and she would know how to handle things, I know it's sad and you are worried, since you seem to be very caring, but you should learn to separate other's problems from yours!. I'm sure she'll be fine!. Also stop worrying about what your biological mom does to your new family and try to undertsnad her, this situation is not easy for her, it doesnt matter is she was "a bad mother' or whatever, this is a bad situation for everyone, including you even though you are trying to look like a nice family now, and that is what is causing you these attacks, stress and worries trigger the attacks, i know from experience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually, from what I understand, this is not completely unusual!. I had a friend who was a senior in high school when his step mom got pregnant!. He dropped out of his honors classes and stopped playing in his band, which he loved!. While I wish I had better advice for you: This isn't something you're going to be able to solve through yahoo answers!. My friend had to get real help from a psychiatrist to get him out of his depression!. And while I'm not a professional, it sounds like you may have a combination of depression and anxiety!. This is something you need to talk about with your dad!. I know you can't see him for 3 weeks, but hey, you've got a phone right!? Call him! See if you can get some help!. If not, go to your guidance counselor at school!.
