Diabetic weight gain?!

Question:

Diabetic weight gain?

I was eating like a pig before december 2005 except for sweets. December I went for a major hernia repair and the doctors decided to take me off diabetic pills and put me on insulin. While in the hospital bed for that month my waist size went from a size 38 to size 45. I've been through a few types of insulin and they all make me gain weight. I've been eating leaner and healthier since I got out of the hospital. They wont put me back on the pills due to that Ive been on them for too long and they can cause liver damage. Now im a 48 waist and weighing in at 273 which is very bad. Ive been exercising using stairmaster and walking and i barely lose half a pound. Ive been researching something called Extendin-4 which comes from the venom of a Gila Monster lizard. I was wondering if anyone's had any luck with it. Its supposed to regulate your blood sugar without or with little insulin.
I left a voice message with my endocrinologist waiting a call back.
Please help this is getting bad.thx

Peachy: I guess mentioning at hte very beginning that im eating leaner and healthier was not enough. Ok then. I was on weight watchers, protein power for life and a few others. Nothing. Im sure at least the first one is connected with eating less calories.

There are plenty of articles that link diabetes with slower metabolism and weight gain from insulin.

I hope I dont have to explain entire researches. I would hope someone has in depth info. thanks!

Sounds like you need a complete lifestyle change. (no, I'm not talking about your gay lifestyle). I'm talking about your daily TV watching and love for food.

You've got a big decision to make. You're already on that slow, miserable slippery slope. You are going to have a horrible time if you don't completely overhaul your diet and exercise routine. Insulin does not make you gain weight. If you think that ingesting something from a Lizard is going to make you lose weight... well, I'm going to remain quiet on that issue.

Losing weight is as simple as it gets. Your body burns about 2000 calories a day doing nothing in particular. You need to burn about 3500 calories to lose a pound. You can burn about 300 to 400 calories walking briskly for about an hour. Am I making sense yet? If you keep your calorie intake at about 1500 per day, walk briskly for about an hour, or so, a day, you will lose close to two pounds a week. This is not rocket science... I've done it.

If you're having trouble with the mental aspect of reprogramming your mind to eat to live instead of the proven failure of living to eat, let me know. I have lots of resources available.

Addendum: As long as you keep looking into the convoluted depths of complexity and ignore the simplistic beauty of the obvious, you're doomed to fail. Like I said... losing weight is as simple as it gets. Reading articles that support your warped sense of reality will get you nowhere. Excess body weight does not come from insulin, it comes from too much food and lack of exercise. How do I know this? BTDT. If you want to lose it, you're going to have to take less in and put more out.... simple. You can buy all those quick weight loss gizmos you want.... or you can listen to someone who's been there. You'll learn the truth one way or the other.
