Can you still fart if you have a colostomy bag?!

Can you still fart if you have a colostomy bag?
Would it collect in the bag, or would it still come out of your "you know what"?

hi katy, I have had an ileostomy bag, similar to a colostomy, for 21 yrs. an ostomate can "fart" as you would call it but it would be in the bag.
Air that normally comes from the stomach & gut would get passed into the appliance causing it to blow up. In which case, you need to go to the bathroom and open the bottom of the bag to release the air pressure. If it doesn't get released, then you will have a mess on your hands.
