Viruses are naturally occurring organisms like bacteria.Like bacterial infection, viral infections can be prevented by vaccination.However, not all viruses have vaccines currently,eg: HIV.
Proper hygiene is the first measure to prevent any infection including viral infection. Antibiotics have no effect on treating viral infection,but, you may see your doctors prescribing antibiotics in some instance.This is mainly to prevent secondary infection results from bacteria.For example, you may experience a running nose which is often caused by Rhino virus,later you produce thick sputum associated with fever.This is due to a possible bacterial infection which require a treatment with an antibiotic.Your doctor will determine the type and duration of antibiotic you require.
Drink plenty of boiled, cool water and eat as normally as you do.Have a rest when , you really want to do.
There are viruses that only you can prevent.eg;HIV.
