Is somthing wrong in my apt?

Hi, I moved into this apt. about 2 and a half yrs ago, well about a yr and a half ago I started having signs of allergies, sneezing itchy watery eyes, coughing , congestion, weezing. I have 2 cats and I cant emagine Im alergic to them after having them for so long before hand. I am wondering if it could be somthing in my apt. that is causing me to have allergy symptoms. I have hardwood floors only an area rug wich I just got a couple months ago so I know its not carpet. Anyone have any ideas?

Its just a 1 bedroom 1 bath apt. small, hardwood floors and base board heating. We never use the heat either as we are in Portland Oregon and my fiance is always hot. I don't see any mold or anything growing on the walls or floors :( this really sucks as I can't afford medical insurance/ Dr. Visit and I just eat up over the counter allergy pills.

Maybe you have a fungus problem in the house? This could be in the walls or basement. You can have a inspector from Health and Sanitation test for fungus growth.
Make sure floors, rugs are vacuumed regularly. Your description sounds more like a fungus problem. Have you talked with landlord about this, maybe they had other units with the same problem and have been keeping it quiet.
An area that has had flooding could be the trigger.
