Yes, it can, but the chance is low, unless you have had some heart disease especially heart valve problems!. Microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi can go into the bloodstream easily and bypass the immune tissues!. When they reach the normal heart, it is ok because the normal flow would not allow them the stay on!. But if the heart valve or internal lining is abnormal, the flow is disrupted and these microorganism can stay on the tissue and grow there!. Hence heart infection results and it is a major problem which could be fatal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
