Can you take Synthroid at night?!

Question:

Can you take Synthroid at night?

When I take my Synthroid in the morning it makes me feel so tired, exhausted, no energy, and sleepy after just waking up. It's terrible. I told the Dr about it when he first put me on Synthroid and he acted like I was lying or like I was lazy anyway cause I am fat and I was just using that as an excuse. but i was asking for it to be corrected not to stay that way.

Some one suggested I take it at night before bed. Anyone know if you can do that?

Answers:

It doesn't matter when you take it. It's recommended to take it on an empty stomach, though, for better absorption of the drug.

The way the drug is aborbed by the body is in such a way that you could technically take a week's worth at a time (although I don't recommend this, a doctor told me I could do that.) Anyway, the point is that it doesn't matter when you take it.

If you're still feeling tired and exhausted, be sure they re-evaluate your thyroid hormone levels to ensure you're receiving the proper dose. Sometimes it takes a lot. I'm on 300mcg.
