My 8 week old has a runny nose and cough along with a high temperature?!

Question:

My 8 week old has a runny nose and cough along with a high temperature?

the temperature seems to go down and up and the cough seems worse at night. He has a runny nose that i try to clear - has been a bit irritable and had green stools for the past few days which seems to be getting better. He has been to the doctor 4 days ago - when should i take him the doctors next and is there anything i could do at home to help him.

I am surprised that the Doctors are okay with a newborn under 3 months old to have a fever! Your best bet is to keep in contact with the Dr and let them know about the baby's fever and maybe even chart it if you can. Obviously, the baby has some kind of infection .. possibly in the sinuses (it happened with my daughter too). I would definitely call the Dr. (no need to panic, but the Dr. needs to be informed of this) and ask what to do with the fever.

By ALL means...do NOT NOT NOT give the baby any type of aspirin products. Tylenol is fine, even Ibuprofin might be, but never never aspirin.

Good luck! Sick babies are never fun. Just keep them comfortable, don't bundle them too warmly (the heat needs to escape some) and make sure the baby is getting plenty of fluids (like pedialyte...ask your Dr.)
