Must admit I have never connected hair loss to having diabetes!. Please use the following information as it applies to you and your circumstances!. If it is outdated, accept my apologies--I am neither a hairdresser nor a physician!. Remember, these are not MY opinions--hey, I have diabetes also (30 + years)!. Here is what I found, after checking several websites:

One of the most common causes of hair loss in pre-menopausal women is a nutritional deficiency, with depleted iron stores being one of the most important factors!.

Iron deficiency is defined as having a ferritin level of under 40ng/ml or iron percent saturation under 20%!. Iron is found mainly in the blood, and according to Dr Michael Sharon, author of Nutrients A-Z 'During one period, a woman will lose around 10-15 mg of iron, while throughout a pregnancy around 600-1000mg will be lost!.'

Diabetes hair loss might occur when one's immune system is weakened, causing infections including one's to the scalp which causes hair to fall out!. The illness may affect follicles that don't get enough nutrition from circulatory problems caused by the diabetic condition!. Women are prone to lose hair when they are diabetic because of hormonal changes brought on by diabetic imbalances in the system!.

The bad news is that the medicine that a diabetic may be prescribed will actually contribute to diabetes hair loss!. Now this is kind of an individual thing because some people respond differently to medicine than others!. The good news is that there may be a treatment that can work in concert with a person's diabetic medicine to actually help deter diabetes hair loss!. The other alternative is to talks with one's physician to perhaps change the type of diabetic drug initially prescribed!.

Most of what I found said your hair should begin to grow back within "several months"; remember, hair growth is cyclical---over a six year period, as per one website!. Hang in there sweetie--it will grow back!Www@Answer-Health@Com
