slightly weird ear infection?!

I've looked all over the internet and i can't find out what it is. I have this weird ear infection where it feels itchy and burning sometimes, and there's also clear discharge from the ear (gross i know..but thats the only way i can explain =/) but there's no actual pain, like in swimmer's ear or that otitis media thing... i went to the doctor and he told me i just had a wax buildup or whatever and diagnosed me with these ear wax removal drops and they just made it itch and burn more, so they didn't help... can anyone tell me what this is and how can i fix it? It's also causing that ear to be muffled and i can't hear from it well..
