Question: My dad was diagnosed with colorectal cancer this week. It is a 7cm tumor. I wad ?
I was due for a colonoscopy 11years ago after the removal of a 2cm polyp 15 years ago. I am 37 and I have two children and I feel so irresponsible. I have had chronic hemorrhoids so haven t worried about anything. I am going to have my colonoscopy but until then, I can t sleep! What are my chances of having a recurrence of polyp?

I believe, and this is just my opinion, that certain people are more susceptible to polyp formation than others. Since you have already had a polyp removed, I would say the chances are pretty good that you have another or others. It's not a big deal, as they remove them as they are encountered during your colonoscopy.

Since your father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, you now have a family history of that disease. This cancer is very "treatable" and often prognosis is good for people who have surgery and undergo chemo-therapy. I pray your father does well.

Please schedule your colonoscopy right away. Doctors will arrange payments, if the cost is prohibitive. Good luck.
