I am a 36 year old woman, generally healthy, how much calcium should I get a day!

Question:

I am a 36 year old woman, generally healthy, how much calcium should I get a day?

I'm also lactose intolerant. So I don't get allot of calcium naturally. What's the best way to get more calcium?

Answers:

You should be aiming for 1000 mg per day. A women's multivitamin should give you 40 % of your daily calcium, and you can take calcium supplements such as Viactiv. Also, a lot of fruits, vegetables and lean meats can help you get your daily calcium in. Try to eat a lot of beans, lentils, chickpeas, as well as broccoli and leafy greens.
