A doctor that knows how to read reports!?!

Question: A doctor that knows how to read reports!?
Hi three weeks ago I got a ultrasound on my thyroid neck and the results were:

Right thyroid lobe: Measures 5.4 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm. Normal size. No focal mass. Normal color flow.

Left thyroid lobe: Measures 5.6 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm. Normal size. Solid nodule lower pole measures 7 x 6 x 6 mm. Normal color flow.

Thyroid isthmus: Measures 3 mm.

Impression: subcentimeter left thyroid lobe nodule.

Today I did another ultrasound on my thyroid and here is the results:

Thyroid gland right lobe: Width 2.0cm
Depth 1
1.3cm
Depth 2
1.5cm
Length
3.6cm
Thyroid gland left lobe: Width 2.0cm
Depth 1
1.4cm
Depth 2
1.1cm
Length
3.6cm
Isthmus: Depth 1
0.4cm
Thyroid nodule left lobe:
Width
0.6cm
Depth 1
0.5cm
Depth 2
0.4cm
Length
0.6cm
Echogenecity: Hperechoic
Vascularity: Minimal

My question is has my thyroid gland grown since three weeks ago? My nodule too? I don't understand this too well plz a professional answer doctor better! Thanks

6 mm is .6 cm - so you can see the nodule has not grown.
We would expect no change in the thyroid gland or the nodule in only 3 weeks
no matter what the nodule may be on biopsy or surgical excision.
Not even a malignancy would grow measurably in just three weeks.
Your doctor will be explaining this to you if you give him or her a chance.
Wonder why your doctor did a repeat scan in three weeks ?
Oh well, he or she has all of your background medical history
which we do not have.
It often causes patients needless anxiety when they get their own reports
before the doctor has had a chance to explain them.
I get my reports early, but I know what they mean.
Not sure how it helps people who are knowledgeable in other fields
but not medicine.
6mm or .6 cm is ~ 1/8 of an inch - very small.

Solitary thyroid nodules are more common in females. Only a small percentage of lumps in the neck are malignant, and most thyroid nodules are benign.
Please see the web pages for more details on thyroid nodule.

from what is seems they are getting bigger

A nodule could be something that is irritating (a germ, etc) and the tissue walls it off (say with calcium and minerals). It could be benign, esp. if it doesn't get any bigger.

Often doctors don't like to read x-rays, etc. I think because radiologists are more thoroughly trained in this area. The main thing is the part that says "Impression". That means "this is what i think it is". So they are saying that it is less than a centimeter nodule. Not saying much, but that is all they can say without a biopsy.

I had a nodule in my lung. They said to either do a biopsy (I didn't have insurance). Or wait and get another x-ray later on to see if it grew. It didn't and it was considered "calcified" and benign.

Sometimes they might not want to go sticking a biopsy needle into your thyroid if they don't have to because they might hit something by accident (like the parathyroid). So maybe they will just wait and see if it grows or not. Try not to worry and just pray that it is benign.
