What causes colon inflammation?!

Question: What causes colon inflammation?
Hi,

I recently had a colonoscopy and the doctor told me that my colon was inflammed. He wasnt very helpful on telling me what was causing it though. Ive looked it up on the internet, and I dont think its any of the different forms of colitis, ulcerative colitis, and crohns disease- because I dont really have a lot of pain or the other symptoms. Does anyone know any other causes of colon inflammation? E.G.- a certain type of food, or medicine i could me taking that could be causing it.

Thanks for the feedback.

The inflammatory response is "a complex biological response of vascular tissues to harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. Inflammation is a protective attempt by the organism to remove the injurious stimuli and to initiate the healing process.” According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inflammatio…
According to webmd.com : Inflammation is one of the body's defense mechanisms. Inflammation results in increased blood flow in response to infection and certain chronic conditions. Symptoms of inflammation include redness, swelling, pain, and heat.
I personally believe there are a number of factors that can be a contributor to inflammation, a number of causes, for example, medications, toxins, foods, stress, trauma, etc. My friend has Ulcerative Colitis and her colon was so inflamed and ulcerated that the doctors wanted to remove it, but she avoided intestinal surgery, got off all her toxic medications thanks to a natural product, AloeElite. She is healed and is 100% well. If you go to www.aloeelite.com there is so much information about their product, and in the health and wellness section they have information on diet recommendations, stress control and it is really a holistic approach. Celiac Disease can cause gut issues, as well.

If you don't have any pain or other symptoms? I'd check it out. There is a type of Celiac disease called 'silent' celiac disease, where there is damage, but almost no symptoms. A blood panel test can detect it, although the false negative rate is about 20%, I believe. If you test negative for it, I'd still try the diet that eliminates the symptoms of the disease: going gluten free.

This was me, by the way. I had gut inflammation, but no real symptoms, and my celiac disease was found by accident. Most GI docs are, unfortunately ignorant about the most recent knowledge on the disease?

If it's Crohn's, diet is very often a factor. you can google for what foods seem to trigger problems with this, too. It differs for everyone, but there are some common food offenders, I believe.
