My blood pressure is abnormal?!

Question: My blood pressure is abnormal?
The set standard for blood pressure is 120/80. I got my test done 2 months ago and I came across the results today, and I found them to be quite extraordinary. My systolic was 143 and my diastolic 79 with a pulse of 72. Since the normal bp is 120/80, why is mine so differential? Is it something I should worry about, or are my results just fine?
By the way, I am 17 years old if that matters.

Answers:

The most significant number in a BP is the diastolic, which is the resting pressure. Yours is just fine. The systolic can fluctuate a lot, even from just nervousness, physical activity, lots of things. A one-time reading doesn't really tell you much, and certainly doesn't mean you have high blood pressure. The "120/80" is an average, not an exact expected number. If you are truly worried about it, give your doctor a call and get a physical!

Many many years as an RN.

not sure, but if there was something to worry about I am sure your dr would have told you
